Colleagues, advocates, and friends since 2017.
My name is Karin Mortimer, and I am from Merrimack, NH, where I live with my husband, Tim, and our two children. Our 14-year-old son, who has cerebral palsy, has shaped my path and ignited a passion for advocacy for disability rights and the implementation of inclusive practices EVERYWHERE. His experiences have deepened my understanding of disability complexities and strengthened my commitment to promoting accessibility and equity for EVERYONE.
I am proud to have graduated from the NH Leadership Series at UNH in 2024. This experience gave me valuable insights and skills to support and empower others confidently. This year, I am a LEND trainee at the Institute on Disability at UNH, focusing on developmental disabilities and addressing social inequities and healthcare disparities to enhance my advocacy skills. Through hands-on training and collaboration with experts, I aim to learn effective strategies for promoting awareness and support, contributing to a more inclusive society.
I'm excited to share that my colleague, Rita Despres, and I started Pep Consulting! We focus on encouraging collaboration and promoting inclusive practices. We recognized the need for practical workshops and professional development that promote understanding and support for individuals with disabilities. Together, we aim to make a positive impact within schools and communities.
Building solid relationships in the community is essential for advocacy and inclusion, as these connections help create a supportive environment for everyone. I'm excited to use my life experience and education to create meaningful change in our community.
I'd love to hear from you if you want to connect or share experiences!
